So I'm sitting here with a glass of Glenlivet and Linda Colley's Britons, listening to this record...not too bad considering what a bad couple weeks it's been.
I'm not sure how I feel about this band. I mean...it's heavy, but at the same time...it's kind of like if John Cena decided to start a hardcore band. They came up in a discussion with a friend the other day so I figured might as well throw it up.
I really wanted to put up "Baptism" but there's no decent video of it, sadly.
OK so these songs rip beyond any real logical level of uh, rippage.
But when I worked at Hot Topic (yeah yeah) and we had "Smile" on the store stereo, "Statement" was on there...and it's not on any version of the record I've obtained since...in fact, the records I've gotten have been almost totally different from what I heard in-store. Come on now.
One of the best records of last year. I loved putting this track on when I worked at Hot Topic and watching people totally miss the inherent irony of that song being played in that place.
As of writing this, it is -15 degrees Fahrenheit in Aurora. After you factor in the windchill, it's a balmy -33. It's been like this for almost two days, and it's not supposed to warm up til Sunday or Monday.
So in honor of these ball-crushing temperatures...
First of all, what idiot booked Mayhem to play in the middle of the day? The intro to this song crushes.
One of the best nights of my life was when I locked myself in my room with a six-pack and the Bad Brains CBGB's 1982 DVD and watched it four times in a row.
Total banger, minimal beat and the only Lupe verse I've ever truly loved which is kind of sad since it's a bit of a novelty verse. Hilarious video, too.
